My Contributions

Mike Jones Tutorial # 1 (4-5)

Throughout the course of using wikispaces I have had the privilege to contribute many pieces of information dealing with digital innovation and technology. My contributions have dealt with a variety of issues, which includes sections such as Electronic Money and Banking, Nanotechnology, and an article I wrote entitled Knowledge and the Medium. Additionally I have added many ideas and further expanded on other individual’s texts, a specific example of this can be found within the section named History and Communication where I wrote a significant amount under the subheading of Oral Communication and its evolution to print, along with other pages where I contributed to the text. I have also made many modifications on pages as well as adding internal and external links throughout pages on the site.

Originally the project was intimidating to me as I felt that the guidelines were a bit blurred, after talking to Mike Jones things began to clear up. However the content that we are suppose to cover is very broad and the possibilities are endless when choosing to write about something. So I felt that I, along with others did not know where exactly to start. Once I began to do my research and further write on topics I was interested in, things again became easier.
Throughout university I find that work is done on a very individual and almost competitive way. This project is more relaxed and interesting because as a student you finally get to compare your written work to other students in the same situation. I believe that this is a very unique feature to this project. The information that has been gathered and added in this one site has become a rich resource in knowledge. Overall this project was enjoyable to be apart of, however I am concerned on how we are going to be marked. I as well as many others have contributed rich content towards the space along with many edits, but will an extreme amount of little edits over weigh the research and synthesis of a topic or many content contributions to other pages? Anyways I hope that marking issues are worked out and that we students could receive a breakdown of what we gained marks for and why we lost them. Nonetheless, since this class I have become addicted to Wikipedia and I recommend it to every type of student when researching because it gives great definitions and links you to other useful sites that will definitely aid you in your researching endeavors.
